Seminarian Update

6/4/24

Greetings,

Summer time is now here! It was a busy spring semester but I am now finished with my Clinical Pastoral Education at the Cleveland Clinic! This consisted of over 450 hours of instruction and chaplaincy to a few hundred patients who came from a diverse faith background. I started the program in January, and finished a few days ago. Additionally I am done with my spring courses.

This summer I will be taking a few summer courses, I will be in Minnesota this weekend taking a class on worship. And in a few weeks I will be traveling to Berlin, Germany for a study abroad course on Dietrich Bonhoeffer. The class will explore his role as a youth minister, the confessing church movement, and the effects of his work. Another bonus is that the tuition of this course is being covered by the seminary. We will be studying in Bonhoeffer’s family home, where he was part of a failed plot to overthrow the Nazi regime. Following the week long course, I will be spending the weekend in Reykjavik, Iceland and am hoping to visit their national cathedral(which is Lutheran) Hallgrímskirkja.

While I am in town, I plan to be in the office when possible, continuing to work on the website and on the communication committee. Pastor and I have been planning the future projects for the website.

Blessings,

Ian Hamilton
