Outreach Ministry

The mission of the Outreach Ministry is to share Jesus and the ministry of the congregation with unchurched persons in the community around us. We seek to reach out to those who do not currently have a church home and invite a response of faith in Jesus Christ and participation in Christ's mission, especially through baptism and membership in this congregation.

The work of the Outreach Ministry includes the following:

  • Enabling guests to feel warmly welcomed at Emmanuel
  • Assimilating new members into the life of the congregation
  • Approaching unchurched persons and extending invitations to come and visit at Emmanuel
  • Encouraging members to share Christ and invite friends and acquaintances to worship through their everyday contacts (much like they would share news of a good doctor or a wonderful place to shop)
  • Working with the Communication Ministry to advertise worship services, programs, and events through community newspapers and news sources
  • Evaluating the ministry of Emmanuel in terms of Christ's command to make disciples of all nations and the needs of our parish service area

Goals of the Ministry

  • Following up on all new visitors within a 36 hour period
  • Continuing a Neighborhood Fun Day.
  • Creating opportunities to welcome people into the build at time other than Sunday morning worship.

Will you help?

Below are some ideas in which you may get involved.

  • Invite a friend or relative to come with you to worship.
  • Look for and greet people new to you before and after worship.
  • Put a friend on our mailing list.
  • Volunteer to drop off an occasional “welcome basket” to first-time visitors (a friendly 3 minute thank-you-for-visiting at the door).
  • Come and help at Neighborhood Fun Day.
  • Be a host at a booth representing Emmanuel a LCCC's Family Day.
  • Offer to pick-up and drive someone to church.
  • Bring a friend to Sunday School.
